Writing challenge: Flash Fiction
Joan’s father came in her room. He saw her playing with her iPad two. He shook his head. That thing was way too ancient to be considered a plaything.
But ever since she got a hold of that iPad from the attic she never let it go. She kept playing Candy Crush, Temple Run and all those games that nobody played anymore.
Her father didn’t know what to do now. But he had come to a decision. The iPad had to go. All those expensive gadgets down in her room weren’t for show keeping.
“Joan?”
“Hm” she said without looking up.
“Remember what we talked about? The iPad is very old. I am going to have to take it away.”
Suddenly she looked up in alarm. She shook her head pleasingly. His father sighed. This isn’t going to be easy.
“Sorry girl, you have the newest iPad twelve. This thing has to go.” And with that he took the iPad two from her hands as she started crying and walked away.
He could hear her crying “No” from behind and he knew then that this gadget she’ll never forget.
He never did.
